Leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius)
The leopard gecko primarily inhabits dry to semi-dry habitats such as stony deserts, bushland and rocky plains in Pakistan, northern India and Afghanistan .
He is a pronounced loner and only seeks out other members of his species during mating season.
Leopard geckos are predominantly nocturnal and crepuscular , spending the day in self-dug burrows or under rocks.
One special feature is their ability to use their tail as a fat reserve and to shed it when in danger.
Unlike many other geckos, they have movable eyelids and no adhesive toes, but rather claws for climbing on rough surfaces.
